Skyline District Scouts show their first-aid prowess
Taking the Boy Scout motto, “Be prepared,” to heart, the Skyline District Sam Houston Area Council Boy Scouts of America recently held its First Aid Meet at the Cockrell Scout Center, East T.C. Jester Blvd. at the 610 Loop.
About 100 Scouts from 10 patrols in six troops participated. It is said that these young Scouts are better prepared in First Aid than 90 percent of all Houstonians. The Sam Houston Area Council First Aid Meet, representing Harris and the surrounding 15 counties, has been won almost exclusively by a Skyline District First or Second Place Patrol for the last fifteen years.
The 2013 winners of the Skyline District First Aid Meet were: First Place, Troop 30, Silver Fox Patrol: Second Place, Troop 604, Yellow Jacket Patrol and Third Place, Troop 30, Beaver Patrol. Troop 30 is sponsored by St. Marks United Methodist Church, Lawrence Wagenhauser, Scoutmaster and Troop 604 sponsored by St. Stephens United Methodist Church, Ed Sherwood, Scoutmaster.
The 2013 First Aid Meet was organized and run by Roy Dean Leighton, Chairman. Stephen DeLeon is the Skyline District Senior Director.
