Tyree Hector

A man accused of fatally shooting another man in Acres Homes earlier this month was arrested Monday, according to Harris County court documents.

The Houston Police Department said 20-year-old Tyree Hector has been charged with murder in connection to the death of 41-year-old Lonnie Day, who was pronounced dead inside an Acres Homes residence with multiple gunshot wounds on Nov. 4.

According to Harris County court records, two of Hector's uncles told police they were with Hector and Day at a home at 2108 Hampton St. around 11:30 p.m. Nov. 3. The witnesses told police that one of them saw Hector allegedly enter Day's room and shoot him multiple times. Court documents also show that, according to the witnesses, Hector allegedly left and returned to Day's room two more times and fired more gunshots before eventually fleeing the scene.

Hector was arrested on Monday, according to court records, and remained in jail with his bail set at $100,000. At the time of Hector's arrest, he also was facing misdemeanor charges of Failing to Stop and Give Information and evading arrest, according to court records. Court records also show that Hector pleaded guilty to misdemeanor assault in July and was sentenced to 75 days in county jail.
