Houston police say they have arrested a man suspected of stabbing and hospitalizing another man in north Houston last weekend.

Alexander Beare, 20, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection with the incident, according to the Houston Police Department. The victim, a 61-year-old man according to HPD, was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

HPD said officers responded to 5900 Guhn Rd. around 9 a.m. last Sunday, Sept. 5 to find the victim had been stabbed in the back. Eyewitnesses told investigators that the suspect, identified by HPD as Beare, then allegedly fled the scene to a nearby hotel where he was arrested, according to police.

Beare remained in jail as of Tuesday afternoon, according to Harris County court records, and his bail had been set at $40,000.
