A man is in the hospital after he was struck in the head with a machete at a local gas station last weekend, according to the Houston Police Department.

HPD said the victim, 69-year-old Alfonso Jimenez, was taken to an area hospital in stable condition.

Jimenez was inside the Shell gas station at 2502 North Loop West around 2:20 p.m. Saturday Oct. 30, police said, when he got into an altercation with a homeless man. HPD said the homeless man pulled a machete and hit Jimenez in the head during the altercation, then fled the scene on his bicycle after a witness intervened.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to contact HPD’s Major Assaults & Family Violence division at 713-308-8800 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
