Houston police say an apparent home invasion that ended with a man being fatally shot near Washington Avenue last month could be related to other incidents in the Houston area.
Devan Jordon, 21, has been charged with capital murder in the shooting of 28-year-old Joshua Sandoval on May 27 at 926 Lester St., according to Harris County court records. Sandoval died May 28 at an area hospital, according to the Houston Police Department.
HPD said officers responded to a shooting call at a townhome near Washington Avenue around 3:40 a.m. May 27 to find Sandoval inside the home with a gunshot wound to his torso, where he had been shot in his garage as the result of an apparent home invasion.
According to police, the incident appeared similar to a string of other home invasion-style robberies in Houston. Jordon was arrested and charged in connection with the shooting on July 1, police said.
Jordon was denied bond by a judge, according to court records. He had previously been arrested and charged with evading arrest with a motor vehicle in February and again in March, and was out of jail on bond at the time of the alleged murder, according to court documents.
The investigation into this incident and potentially related robberies is ongoing, according to HPD. Anyone with information about the incidents is urged to contact HPD’s Homicide division at 713-308-3600.
