Houston police are investigating a shooting on the Loop 610 access road that put a man and his son in the hospital Wednesday afternoon.

The victims, 40-year-old Emiliano Garcia and his 10-year-old son, were at an area hospital in stable condition, according to a Thursday news release from the Houston Police Department.

HPD said Garcia was driving near the 300 block of North Loop West, between North Shepherd Drive and Yale Street, just before 3:30 p.m. Wednesday when he attempted to pass another driver but was cut off. According to police, the other driver pulled in front of Garcia’s car and suddenly braked before pulling out a gun and firing toward Garcia and his son, who was a passenger. Both were shot.

The two vehicles then collided, police said, but Garcia managed to keep driving to a hospital.

HPD said the shooting suspect, described as a Black male between 20 and 25 years old, continued driving on the service road for several blocks before ditching his car and fleeing the scene on foot, heading north on Main Street.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact HPD’s Major Assaults & Family Violence division at 713-308-8800 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
