Houston police are looking into a shooting near Acres Homes last week that left a woman hospitalized.
The victim, 43-year-old Latonya Schooler, was transported to an area hospital with gunshot wounds to her arm and chest, according to the Houston Police Department.
HPD said officers responded to a residence at 754 Homer St. at 7:40 a.m. March 4 in response to a shooting call. Investigators were told Schooler had met with the shooting suspect, a Black man in his 50s, around midnight, according to HPD. The suspect, police said, was missing money and accused Schooler of taking it.
According to HPD, the suspect then drove to the aforementioned address and held Schooler at gunpoint while searching her belongings. Upon not finding the money, HPD said the suspect fired shots toward Schooler three times before fleeing the scene in a black Chrysler 300 with possible 22-inch rims.
Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact HPD’s Major Assaults & Family Violence division at 713-308-8800 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
