Members of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston’s John and Cissy Havard Club in the Heights recently took part in United Way’s Lemonade Day 2021 activities, and came away with hundreds of dollars raised.
A news release from the Boys and Girls Clubs said about 25 kids from the Heights club sold lemonade and various snacks to nearly 100 customers to help them gain “valuable financial and entrepreneurial skills through operating their own business.”
In total, the kids raised nearly $850 during a two-hour selling window, according to the release. The Heights event was one of several around the Houston area from July 15-17 in honor of National Lemonade Day.
