Police are searching for a man who is accused of shooting and hospitalizing his mother’s boyfriend in the Heights earlier this month, according to the Houston Police Department.
Andrew Martinez, 21, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection to the shooting of Hilario Melo, 50, according to the department.
Officers at about 10:30 p.m. Aug. 13 received a call about a shooting at a home in the 200 block of E. 28th Street, according to the police. Witnesses at the scene told police Martinez was upset with Melo and demanded he get out of a car, police said.
Melo declined, at which point Martinez is accused of shooting Melo through the passenger-side window, according to the department. Martinez then left the scene, police said.
Melo was taken to the hospital with gunshot wound injuries to his chest, right arm and abdomen, according to the department, and was said to be in stable condition.
A warrant has been issued for Martinez’s arrest, and his bond is set at $40,000, according to Harris County court records.
