Police say they are looking into the fatal shooting of a man in Independence Heights over the weekend.

The victim, 54-year-old John Lewis, was found dead in his car as the result of shooting, according to the Houston Police Department.

HPD said officers were responding to a shooting call at 900 E. 35th St. around 6:30 p.m. last Sunday, April 18 when they found Lewis’ car stopped in the roadway. He was then found dead in the driver’s seat, according to police.

The shooter, police said, is believed to have fled the scene in a gray sedan.
