A man is in the hospital as the result of a shooting that took place near U.S. 290 earlier this week.

The male victim was taken to a nearby hospital in an unknown condition, according to the Houston Police Department.

HPD said officers responded to 4708 Sherwood St. around 2 p.m. Monday to find the victim outside a vacant and burned house at the address with a gunshot wound to his back.

There are no known suspects or motives in the case, according to police, which said the shooting remains under investigation.
