Police say they are investigating a shooting at a hotel off the Interstate 45 frontage road that put a man in the hospital last weekend.
The victim, 42-year-old Master Mooring Jr., was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, according to the Houston Police Department.
HPD said officers responded to a shooting call at the Southwind Motel at 5617 North Fwy. around 2 p.m. May 15 to find Mooring Jr. inside a hotel room with multiple gunshot wounds. Mooring Jr. was inside the hotel room, police said, when an unknown female wearing all black walked up to the hotel room door and fired into the room multiple times.
Witnesses told investigators that the woman then got into the passenger side of a red SUV waiting in the parking lot and fled the scene going north on the southbound lanes of I-45.
Police said earlier this week there was no known motive in the shooting. Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact HPD’s Major Assaults & Family Violence division at 713-308-8800 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
