Area residents are invited to participate in the 16th Annual Houston Heights Association Bicycle Rally & Scavenger Hunt, which is scheduled for May 29-31.
The family-friendly event serves as a fundraiser for the Houston Heights Association (HHA), which serves residents and businesses in the neighborhood, with proceeds earmarked for the maintenance of the historic Houston Heights Fire Station as well as Donovan Park, Marmion Park and the Heights Boulevard esplanade.
Participants can choose between a 5-mile or 15-mile course, both of which will include scavenger hunt items. Riders will receive a clue list the day before the rally that describes sights or objects visible along the route, and the person or team that correctly identifies the most items will win the scavenger hunt and accompanying prize.
Completed scavenger hunt forms must be turned in by 5 p.m. May 31 at the Houston Heights Fire Station, located 107 W. 12th St. Winners will be announced June 2.
The event is being spread out over three days to help allow for social distancing. Participants must provide their own water and find their own restroom facilities.
Registration can be completed online at https://www.bikesignup.com/Race/TX/Houston/13thHoustonHeightsBicycleRallyScavengerHunt. The cost before 5 p.m. May 22 is $20 for the 5-mile ride and $25 for the 15-mile ride. Beginning May 23, the cost is $25 for the shorter course and $30 for the longer course.
