Houston police have released surveillance video of a vehicle they say could be involved in the fatal shooting of a man in the Heights earlier this week.

The victim, 45-year-old Jose Mazariegos, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Houston Police Department.

HPD said officers responded to 500 Oxford St. just after 10 p.m. Tuesday to find Mazariegos lying in the street with a gunshot wound to his chest. Eyewitnesses told investigators that Mazariegos was standing outside his truck that was parked in the road, police said, when an unknown person shot him before climbing into a white Chevrolet Tahoe or GMC Yukon with a sticker saying "SLP” and fleeing southbound on Oxford.

Surveillance video of the vehicle can be seen on the HPD YouTube channel at youtu.be/O7zu63zVUak. Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact HPD’s Homicide division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
