Police have made an arrest in connection to a March shooting in the Acres Homes area that left one man with a gunshot wound to the neck, according to the Houston Police Department.
Gayland Berry, 23, has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in connection to the shooting of Margarito Lopez, 32, according to police.
Officers at about 1:45 a.m. on March 30 were called to a report about a car in a ditch in the 1900 block of Dewalt Street, according to the department.
Investigators at the scene spoke with someone, who told them Lopez was driving south when he pulled in front of a dark-colored sedan, according to the department. Someone inside that car then began shooting at Lopez and hit him in the neck, which caused him to lose control of his car and go into a nearby ditch, according to police.
The man, later identified as Berry, then allegedly fled the scene heading eastbound, according to police. He was arrested on Aug. 11 after four months of searching, police said.
