St. Mark Lutheran School has hired a new leader of its athletic department.
The Spring Branch private school, which serves children ranging from pre-kindergarten through eighth grade and has students from the Garden Oaks, Oak Forest and Timbergrove areas, announced last week it had named Anthony Lofton as its new athletic director.
“We are excited for the energy, organization and vision he will bring to this role,” Dallas Lusk, the school’s executive director, in a news release.
According to St. Mark, Lofton earned a bachelor's degree in marketing from King University in Bristol, Tennessee, where he played for the men’s volleyball team. He began his foray into coaching as a club coach, which he did while working as a corporate recruiter after graduating from college.
Lofton previously coached for Lutheran South Academy as well as the Pearland Juniors and Houston Stellar volleyball clubs.
In his last stop, Lofton served as the physical education teacher and lower athletics coordinator for Regis School of the Sacred Heart, located near Spring Branch.
Lofton will begin coordinating athletics at St. Mark with the school’s administration this summer, according to the school.
