Cedar Creek Bar & Grill, 1034 W. 20th St., is hosting its third annual gumbo cookoff from 1-8 p.m. Jan. 30.
A $10 ticket will get cookoff attendees a tasting wristband and a chance to vote in the People’s Choice category. A $25 ticket includes a tasting wristband, a cookoff T-shirt and a vote in the People’s Choice category.
Proceeds from the cookoff will benefit Summer House Houston.
The cookoff is taking measures to ensure social distancing is maintained as well as ensuring the safety of the patrons and participants.
Mutiny hosting wine dinner
Mutiny Wine Room, 1124 Usener St., is bringing Italy flavors to the Heights during its Damoli Wine Dinner on Jan. 26.
Ben Harris, Mutiny’s sommelier, has selected the wine that will transport tasters to Italy and chef Eduardo Alcayaga has created a pairing menu to go along with the wines.

There’s a variety of treats available to pre-order, including Valentine’s gift sets, which come with a heart cake for two, four ruby chocolate truffles and six white chocolate-dipped sugar cookies.
The cake, sugar cookies and truffles are also up for pre-order individually, along with an assortment of cupcakes and macarons.
Pre-orders can be picked up Feb. 6 and from Feb. 9-14. Delivery within 10 miles of the bakery is available for $20.

SweetCup’s King Cake Gelato is made with cinnamon swirl King Cake, baked in-house, mixed with crème fraiche gelato base and topped with yellow, green and purple sprinkles.
Instead of a plastic baby, customers may find a candy gummy worm. Whoever finds the worm will receive a free small cup.
