Some residents of the Montie Beach neighborhood have growing concerns Main Street Tap & Grill, 4002 N. Main St., which since opening in late 2019 has had nearly 200 noise complaints filed against it with the Houston Police Department. There also have been incidents of violence at the Heights-area restaurant and bar.

A push to remove racist, unenforceable language from the deed restrictions in Garden Oaks and Oak Forest got a recent nudge from the Texas Legislature, which passed a bill that would allow individual property owners to have the language removed from their deed restrictions by filling out forms and filing them with a district court at no cost. The local neighborhoods and even their representatives in Austin wanted more, while at least one Garden Oaks resident would like the language to remain as a reminder of the past.
