Local high school athletes will have the chance to showcase and test their skills at an athletic combine hosted by Houston ISD next week.
Next Monday and Tuesday, HISD will partner with Local Sports Network and Zybek Sports to host a free athletic combine at Delmar Stadium, 2020 Mangum Rd., that is open to HISD athletes in sixth to 12th grade who play any sport. There will be two time slots for each day, according to an event flyer – one session from 8-10 a.m. and another from 6-8 p.m.
During the event, athletes will have their physical measurements taken as well as be tested in the 40-yard dash, broad jump, vertical jump and shuttle runs. Results will be available within 48 hours after the event’s completion via the Local Sports Network app, according to the combine website.
“For our kids, these combines put them on an even playing field,” reads a statement from HISD athletic director Andre Walker on the combine’s website. “Thanks to Local Sports Network and Two Percent Combines, our kids know exactly where they are right now, where they need to be in the future, and specific ways they can improve.”
The event is free for all athletes. For more information about the event or to register, athletes can go to twopercentcombines.com/product/houston-isd-athletics-combine.
